Dog and Puppy Training – How do we help?
Dog Behavior Training – Basic Manners and Skills
Communication!
- Learn to read your dog and speak his language!
Your dog doesn’t speak English and you cannot bark to talk to them! You need to learn how to effectively communicate with your dog because without it, you can’t properly train your dog. By using good and clear verbal or body language cues your dog will understand what is acceptable and what is not.
Your pup will learn good manners not only at home, but also in different places and with different people. They will learn that being calm no matter the distraction, duration or distance is rewarding and fun.
Your dog will learn the following:
- – attention/focus
- – hand targeting – a way to move your dog around and get their attention away from distractions
- – sit/down/stay
- – go to their spot/place/kennel
- – recall (come)
- – drop it/leave it
- – settle/relax on the mat
- – off (furniture)
- l- oose leash walking/no pulling
Manners in Public
Your dog needs to learn to transfer the good manners they learned at home, anywhere outside the property. This doesn’t happen automatically, your dog needs to be taught to do it.
We will be working in places that can be challenging for your dog. These can be areas with all kinds of distractions: people, adults and/or children, bicycles, animals, noises, traffic etc. Some good places we like to train are hardware and pet stores. We’ll teach your dog to use good manners no matter the distractions or temptations.

Rescued dogs
Some rescued dogs come with different behavior issues. These problems need to be addressed with tact and professional approach.
Whatever the case, your dog can be restored. Help them to adapt to their new home!
Intermediate and Advanced Manners
You can make both your life and your dog’s life easier by continuing to teach them more useful behaviors for real life situations than just the basic simple ones. You can teach your dog the following:
- heel/side/circle
- patience
- polite greetings
- settle with distractions
- left/right turn
- give/take/bring
- stand
- speak/quiet
- leash pick up
- load up – into the car/crate
- walk backwards etc.
All our packages for dog and puppy training include
Impulse-Control Exercises
You can teach your dog many commands and they can still lack self-control. Training cues or commands alone will not teach a dog self-control. Your dog needs to learn self-discipline, composure, restraint of emotions and impulses. This will teach your dog not to follow their first impulse when they see something that makes them react. Such examples are: chasing a squirrel, cat or anything that moves, bolting through the door, lunging or running out in the street to greet someone. Instead, they will learn to stay calmly waiting for your direction. This dream can become true!
